Gaku Tsutaja

The Open AIR (Artist-in-Residence) program placed visiting artists at sites around western Montana including the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula. Japanese artist and New York resident Gaku Tsutaja worked there to explore the experience for 1,200 Japanese who passed through Missoula during World War II. The 15 artists will share their work at the Gallery of Visual Arts at the University of Montana starting on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
