Thanks to the strong support of our community, Missoula Aging Services has promoted the independence, dignity and health of older adults and those who care for them for over 36 years! We are completely thankful for the donors and volunteers who work with us to achieve substantial, positive impacts in the lives of Missoula County’s older neighbors. Every day we deliver Meals on Wheels, provide caregiver support, help veterans, prevent elder abuse and neglect, connect older adults to services, and place volunteers in schools to support at-risk children.
Together we acknowledge unique issues and challenges faced by the growing population that is transitioning into later life stages. In fact, today in America 10,000 people will turn 65, and that will continue for the next 10 years, until 70 million Americans are 65 and older! Most of them (90%) want to live in their own homes as long as possible rather than a nursing home. Missoula Aging Services helps them do that.
Together with our partners, we also celebrate the significant contributions that older adults can offer our community. We provide hundreds of engaging, meaningful opportunities for over 500 older adult volunteers each year! Active volunteering brings older adults an improved sense of well-being, better health, social connections, continued learning opportunities, personal growth, and adds meaning to life through contributing to the good of the community.
We have established long-term collaborations, along with pro-active outreach and efficient delivery systems. We provide education to all, and advocate strongly for older adults, as we deliver care, sustenance, resources, volunteer opportunities, training and classes.
Our mission is a joy to us as we empower older adults to live with independence, dignity and better health, through critically needed programs and highly effective services.
